The IMA degree programme combines specialist knowledge in the fields of business administration and business informatics with application-oriented and industry-specific skills. The IMA laboratory offers the best conditions for the practical handling of intelligent mobility solutions: here, students can practise on test vehicles and model vehicles and are thus equipped with the necessary tools to help shape the future of mobility.
Now the lab's fleet of cars, which has so far consisted of a BMW Mini, an eWrangler Jeep and an eGoKart, has grown: Autohaus Reisacher GmbH has given the university a BMW 330e plug-in hybrid provided by BMW AG.
"An investment in the workforce of tomorrow"
With the vehicle donation, the car manufacturer BMW and the family-owned Reisacher company want to specifically support HNU students. "For us, this is an investment in the motivated and inspired workforce of tomorrow," explained Stefan Hörnlein from BMW AG. Udo Maier, Managing Director of the Reisacher location in Ulm, affirmed: "We support the students in their acquisition of skills - and can then in turn benefit from the practical skills of well-trained professionals".
HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser, who accepted the key for the new vehicle on campus, described the new addition to the HNU vehicle fleet as a real benefit for application-oriented teaching. She also emphasised the synergies that arise in this connection between business and university: "Not only do the technical aspects enable numerous points of contact - as a partner with business expertise, HNU also offers know-how in the area of digital business models for electromobility".
Test vehicle offers high learning effect through real data
Course director Prof. Dr. Jörg-Oliver Vogt and the professors involved are particularly pleased about the benefits for practical training in the IMA course. "Our students can draw significantly more benefit from real data than from any simulation," explained Prof. Manfred Plechaty, who initiated the vehicle handover on the part of HNU.
The BMW 330e has already proven its added value in its first uses: After several high-voltage courses and workshops completed on the new vehicle, around 60 certificates were handed over to students.
