HNU Pro­fessor Gutiér­rez is "Pro­fessor of the Year 2021

"Mr Gutierrez is a professor who stands out especially for his practical and inspiring teaching. Therefore, he more than deserves the Professor of the Year award!" say student Viktoria Mayer and graduate Elias Weiß, former student representative. "With his great and innovative digital teaching, Prof. Gutiérrez has given us valuable content for our further path with great pleasure," adds HNU graduate Stefanie Ländle.

Numerous students, HNU graduates and several companies supported Prof. Gutiérrez's nomination. "I would like to thank them all very much for this overwhelming support," says Gutiérrez. The winners of the four subject categories were finally selected by an independent jury chaired by the Rector of the University of Duisburg-Essen and former Vice-President of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK), Prof. Dr. Ulrich Radtke.

Furthermore, we thank him for his great commitment, which very successfully prepares students for their professional future," says Merlin Kalokerinos, member of the student council and the senate of HNU. "With this award, Professor Gutiérrez belongs to the absolute top nationwide," says Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser, President of Neu-Ulm University. "We are extremely proud of this achievement, as practical orientation and digitalisation are very important at HNU and are among our core competencies. Congratulations on the title of Professor of the Year!"

Digital teaching, lively exchange with practice and climate protection

Prof. Gutiérrez teaches in the areas of Quantitative Methods/Business Analytics and Production and Logistics. In 2020, he was already awarded the "Prize for Outstanding Teaching at Bavarian Universities of Applied Sciences" by the Bavarian State Minister for Science and the Arts for his great commitment and sophisticated teaching methods. Even in the pandemic, he is always there for his students with his elaborate digital teaching. "Especially in online teaching, I am happy about the valuable cooperation of the students, which also allows me to learn a lot," emphasises Gutiérrez. In his teaching, he makes sure that there is a lively exchange with the regional and supra-regional economy. One example of this is his cooperation with the management consultancy OSCAR GmbH, with whom he conducts a case study training every semester - this can give students a decisive advantage in application and selection procedures (assessment centres) and thus on the threshold to starting a career. For the live event and subsequent follow-up, Prof. Gutiérrez uses a completely digital concept that enables both high interaction and in-depth reflection. In his practice week, which is currently also taking place online, Prof. Gutiérrez also deals with one of the pressing issues of our time - climate protection. Here, the inclusion of the proven expertise of guest lecturers enables diverse insights for the managers of tomorrow.
