How do pack the media?
As a general rule: Pack the media in a way that ensures safe transportation. This means:
- We suggest sending the media as aPaket because in case of loss or damage, German Postal Service will be liable for up to € 500.-.
- A Päckchen is a little cheaper than a Paket, but without the aforementioned insurance. Weight must not exceed 2 kg.
- A Büchersendung (up to 1 kg) is even cheaper, but with longer delivery time (approximately 4 workdays) and without insurance. You will need a padded envelope which you can buy at the postal office.
Please add an informal accompanying letter to your sending. Thus, your sending can be assigned correctly even if the packaging is damaged.
Will fees increase even though I have already sent the media?
Yes, this may happen: Fees will stop increasing when the media arrive at the library, not when you start sending them. So if you send the media back to late, you will still have to pay fees.
Who is liable for a lost sending?
In general, you as the sender are liable.
The risk of loss is very low, but if you want an insurance, you can send the media as a Paket (see above); these sendings will be insured for up to € 500.-.
