Boost for university start-ups: Bavarian-Swabian start-up hub "KANU" officially launched by Science Minister

07.05.2024, Press Release :

Five start-up hubs in Bavaria help students with an entrepreneurial spirit. The five new start-up hubs are part of the "Hightech Transfer Bayern" initiative, in which the Bavarian state government is investing a total of over 100 million euros. One of these regional hubs is the "Swabian Entrepreneurship Nexus - 'KANU'". In addition to Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), it is supported by the University of Augsburg, Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and Kempten University of Applied Sciences.

"Every great idea starts small: Anyone with a real vision can turn it into reality in Bavaria with our support. Bavaria is the best base for start-ups!" said Bavaria's Minister of Science Markus Blume at the opening of all Bavaria's start-up hubs on May 1. "Founding can be learned: our start-up hubs help students and academic staff to get started. We are continuing the success story of Bavaria as a start-up state throughout the Free State: We are funding the establishment and expansion of the start-up hubs with around three million euros and ten permanent positions - for systematic start-up training. The combination of talent and new technology creates products and services for the economy and society. This is how we secure prosperity and the future of Bavaria."

"In the KANU project, we are uniting the innovative strength of four Swabian start-up universities under one roof and establishing ourselves as the home of forward-looking start-ups. I am looking forward to the joint and sustainable
