Continuation of the TTZ Günzburg secured

08.12.2022, Press Release :

Since its foundation, the Technology Transfer Center (TTZ) Günzburg has established itself as an important partner for the economy in and around Günzburg. Now, the center's continued funding until the end of 2025 has been secured: a clear signal for the continued expansion of successful technology transfer activities in the region.

For two years now, the TTZ Günzburg has been supporting regional companies in the topics of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, thus ensuring productive knowledge transfer. With the approval of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts (StMWK) and the support of the city and district of Günzburg, the Research and Transfer Institute of Neu-Ulm University (HNU) can now enter the next round: The start-up financing of the center and the current lease in the premises of VR Bank Donau Mindel eG are extended until 2025.

Securing the location in the heart of Günzburg

"An integral part of the successful further development of the TTZ Günzburg is not least that the city of Günzburg continues to provide highly suitable premises in the center of Günzburg. The district of Günzburg is thankfully participating in this," summarizes Mayor Gerhard Jauernig. "In this context, my special thanks go to VR Bank Donau-Mindel eG, which is a true cooperation partner in many respects."

Green light for expansion of successful transfer activities

"This is a clear signal of the success of the Technology Center to date," says HNU Vice President Prof. Dr. Sylvia Schafmeister. "The continued funding now gives the green light to continue and expand the technology transfer activities and to continue to be a strong transfer partner for the region in the future." After the TTZ Günzburg started in the pandemic year 2020 and could not immediately act as planned due to the restrictions, the extension now enables important planning security.

The TTZ Günzburg is set to grow

For the medium-term future, the technology transfer center is planning growth, particularly in terms of personnel. "The secured funding enables us to deploy additional personnel in the research and development area," explains TTZ director Prof. Dr. Philipp Brune. This means that additional planned research projects can be implemented and cooperation projects with local companies can be expanded in a targeted manner in the future.
