HNU winter semester 2021/22: Experience university!

22.07.2021, Press Release :

President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser announces for the winter semester 2021/22 at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU): Enable attendance study - use leeway - push vaccinations.

"All HNU students from the first semester onwards should experience university again from the winter semester onwards," is the motto of HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser. The resulting options for face-to-face events are to be used quickly and to the greatest possible extent, with the greatest possible security for students and lecturers. The plans for the winter semester 2021/22 take both into account. "After three Corona semesters, it is urgently time for students to come back to the labs, seminar rooms and library. We miss teaching and learning together," says the HNU president, summing up the mood among the faculty and students.

Clear policy regulations are currently still in consultation with the ministry, such as the determination of maximum group sizes, or the question of whether testing can take place on site - negative test proofs or controlled self-tests - as well as compliance with the distance requirement and the associated limited room capacities. These rules must be feasible for Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences. Comprehensive access controls in attendance mode under pandemic conditions are not feasible.

Different scenarios for changes in the pandemic situation

Nevertheless, HNU President, Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser, expresses hope: "If the general conditions remain similar to what they are now, HNU will be able to welcome groups of students to the university in the coming winter semester with set upper limits. Students must therefore be advised in any case to return to their places of study so that they can actually take advantage of attendance offers. We are of course planning with different scenarios for changes in the pandemic situation; these will be continuously adapted to further developments."

Vaccination offers for students and future students

In order to be able to offer vaccination services to as many students as possible, HNU has arranged numerous cooperation agreements with vaccination centres in the surrounding area. For example, students can get vaccinated at the vaccination centre in Neu-Ulm, which is almost opposite, during vaccination times offered daily, even without an appointment. The vaccination centre in Ulm also offers appointments for the vaccination of HNU students across state borders; appointments can be made there at short notice. A mobile vaccination team from the Neu-Ulm vaccination centre is also being planned for HNU. HNU provides information about the current offers on its website. With the abolition of vaccination prioritisation, it has become easier for students who want to be vaccinated to get vaccinated before the start of the winter semester.
