HNU professor is a member of the jury for the German Computer Game Award 2021

09.04.2021, Press Release :

On Tuesday, 13 April 2021, the German Computer Games Award 2021 will be presented via livestream. Professor Michael Hebel of Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) is also part of an expert jury and the 35-member main jury.

For the German Computer Games Award 2021, there were 351 submissions for the trophies and the prize money of 790,000 euros - the number of projects has increased slightly compared to the previous year.

HNU professor Michael Hebel is part of the expert jury group "Best Expert Game" and also serves on the main jury group. The expert jury group sifted through all the submissions and nominated three submissions to be voted on in the main jury group.

"There was some discussion in the process as to which game was a) worthy of nomination and b) then won, and for what reasons - this will of course only be revealed on Tuesday," Hebel reports from the jury work. "I was particularly struck by the fact that the quality of the games and the themes are of a higher quality, especially the quality of the craftsmanship. Games by game students stand out time and again, which I see as a sign of a passable educational landscape. I still expect a lot for the future here."

Michael Hebel is Professor of Game Art and Design at HNU. His field of research includes innovative teaching concepts in design didactics as well as the formalisation of game teaching, game thinking and game didactics.

The German Computer Game Award ceremony will begin on 13 April 2021 at 7 pm. The livestream will be broadcast on the official website: deutscher-computerspielpreis.de
