New in-service training programme in veterinary medicine

15.02.2021, Press Release :

The Centre for Continuing Education (ZfW) at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) will offer the part-time educational programme "Management of Veterinary Practice/Clinic" in cooperation with the bpt - Bundesverband Praktizierender Tierärzte e.V. (Federal Association of Practising Veterinarians) and Vetkom GmbH from May 2021, which has been specially developed for veterinarians for further education in business management.

Veterinarians and senior veterinary assistants have expertise in their medical field but need up-to-date know-how in business management, including the areas of foundation or business planning, controlling and financial management, purchasing and materials management, pharmacy management, human resources management, digital skills, marketing and law in order to successfully run their veterinary practice.

The participants acquire well-founded and practice-oriented competences in the management of veterinary practices and clinics within the framework of the 120-lesson programme. Current methods to analyse and interpret structures, processes and potentials are addressed with the aim of developing new and application-oriented solutions for their own needs.

The content is taught in an in-service format; with weekly live online seminars and a block of attendance lasting several days. Varied case studies, online question rounds, simulations and e-learning tools are used. The team of lecturers consists of university teachers with practical experience and knowledgeable experts from the field. Upon successful completion, Neu-Ulm University awards a certificate of participation.

The continuing education programme lasts six months and starts in May 2021. A prerequisite for participation is at least one year of professional experience in a veterinary practice or veterinary clinic or a licence to practise medicine. The costs for the in-service training programme are 2,600 euros net plus 19% VAT.
