14 new professorships and an extension for Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences

04.02.2021, Press Release :

The Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) receives 2.3 million euros from the Bavarian technology offensive "Hightech Agenda Plus", which is worth billions, for an extension and is allowed to advertise 28 new positions, including 14 professorships.

The Neu-Ulm city council approved the two-storey new building in its meeting on 3 February as requested, thus supporting the expansion of the HNU and creating conditions under planning law. Construction work is expected to start at the end of 2022 and last for about a year. Since the new building has to be constructed in modular construction according to the Free State's specifications, this short construction period is to be expected. According to the university management's ideas, the approximately 430 square metres will house new offices, a laboratory and possibly a seminar room.

The Free State of Bavaria is funding the new building on the Wiley campus with 2.3 million euros. The money comes from the "Hightech Agenda Plus", a 3.5 billion euro technology offensive of the Free State that strengthens Bavaria as a science location. President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser is looking forward to the university's further development: "We at HNU are using the "Hightech Agenda Plus" to implement our ambitious, strategic goals and digital transformation. With forward-looking study concepts and the sustainable expansion of our research and transfer strength, we are making an indispensable contribution to the innovative capacity of the region and beyond."

The 14 new professorships are also part of the economic stimulus package. In addition, the HNU will receive the same number of new positions for academic staff and administration.
