Kadu Kaidy is a second-semester student on the industrial engineering degree programme at HNU and Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU) and has been boxing for ten years now, including three years for SSV Ulm. In November, the 26-year-old Bundesliga boxer won the title of "German University Champion" in the light heavyweight class (80 kilograms) in Kassel. He defeated six-time Lower Saxony champion Brandon Bojani in the final.
The significance of the title for Kadu Kaidy
"The title of German University Champion means an incredible amount to me. It is the result of my hard work and dedication to boxing and motivates me to keep working on my skills to pave my way in boxing. Knowing that successful boxers like Andre Ward and Claressa Shields started out as university champions strengthens my belief that I am on the right path and inspires me to follow their examples. The success means even more to me than my Baden-Württemberg championship titles in 2021 and 2022. It shows me how far I've come and gives me the strength to pursue even bigger goals."
Compatibility with studies
To be able to combine boxing with his studies, Kadu Kaidy has established a fixed training structure for himself: "In order to reconcile both, I often have to make sacrifices in terms of my free time. I can't allow myself long nights of partying," he revealed with a wink.
His next goals
In addition to successfully completing his studies, Kadu Kaidy wants to prepare himself as well as possible for his upcoming fights and achieve long-term international success.
