Africa Day for Enterprises

Access to East Africa for German Mittelstand – focus on Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda

For the third time, the Africa Institute of Neu-Ulm University (HNU) invited international business people to Africa Day - this year for the first time online and completely in English. The event was dedicated to business opportunities and provided tips on entering the East African market.

The following questions were answered:

  •         How are the markets in Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda structured and what opportunities are opening up?
  •         How can these new markets be developed? How can you build your network and find local partners?
  •         What funding opportunities and support are there for German SMEs and start-ups?

After presentations on funding programs and support from local organizations, various speakers discussed the opportunities and markets in the three sample countries Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda. Afterwards, networking took place in an innovative online format, because personal contacts and networks are the key to success in African countries. Thanks to the online format, participants from the four participating countries were able to exchange ideas without having to travel.

The assessment of the speaker Jan Veddeler, CEO of Digital Lions about this novel format: "found the format really happy and your courage with this visually unfamiliar but functionally great conference tool Gather.Town admirable."

We thank all the speakers for their input and the attendees for their questions!

The event was quite an eye opener as well as great exchange of knowledge and ideas and networking.
