The general aim of the course is to familiarize students with basic techniques of scientific work.
After successful completion of the module, students will be able to

Expertise

• Conduct targeted research for specialist information and evaluate research critically
• Abstract the content of technical articles and formulate summaries
• Be able to adhere to formal guidelines such as citing, formatting

Methodological Competence

• Structure texts in terms of content and design them adequately
• Design and format reports systematically using standard software
• Design presentations in a structured and visually appealing manner and deliver them in a rhetorically appropriate manner

Social and Self Competence
• cooperate in groups to complete tasks
•  speak and argue in front of groups
•  criticize constructively and receive criticism objectively

The acquisition of the aforementioned competencies and skills is achieved through the treatment of the following topics, which, as far as possible, are based on content from the field of health care:

  • Introduction to literature research
  • Functionality of scientific databases
  • Introduction to LaTex
  • Preparation of abstracts of scientific articles
  • Development of definitions of terms
  • Development of a research question
  • Creation of a Narrative Review to answer the research question
  • Reciprocal reviewing of the narrative review
  • Preparation of short presentations and their presentation
