What tips can you give young people who are looking for the right degree programme?
Think about what you would like to do in your professional life. Then see in which profession I can implement these activities. With this basis, you can look for your degree programme. If you are still unsure, then look for a degree programme that will give you a broader base.
For what reasons did you decide to study at HNU?
HNU offered me exactly the right degree programme I needed for my professional future. With the degree programme "Business Administration in Health Care", I can combine my professional training in tourism with the basics of health care and thus focus my professional future on health tourism. In addition, the cities of Ulm/Neu-Ulm are very attractive student towns.
What tips would you give to students in your degree programme?
Be sure to look at the professional fields of the degree programmes and try to gain work experience in these areas through internships, student jobs or holiday work. Also have a look at the fringe fields in health management. There are also attractive and interesting career paths in the health industry besides the rehabilitation, hospital and pharmaceutical sectors.
Exhausting or child's play: What did your internship semester look like and what tasks did you take on?
My practical semester at Helios Kliniken Bad Grönenbach was very demanding. I was the project manager for setting up the electronic therapy planning. I was in charge of all discussions, consultations and coordination with doctors, therapists and administration.
What is your advice to all graduates who are looking for their first job?
Look around for jobs even before you finish your studies. Ask companies whether a speculative application is possible or enquire about future job openings. Put out feelers even before you start your Bachelor's thesis.
What experiences from your studies at HNU have proven valuable in your professional life?
The implementation of project and team work was almost a waste of time for me during my studies. For me, these are now one of the most important study contents for my current professional life. Implementing projects or introducing new subject areas needs precise planning and teamwork. The approach and learning to work together are the optimal exercise during my studies.
