Straightforward or via detours: What was your school career like and what interests did you have as a younger person?
Straightforward! My school career was pretty unspectacular: primary school, grammar school and A-levels, then I went to university and completed my Bachelor's degree. From an early age, I showed great interest in the technical field and this continued into my studies. However, I didn't want to focus only on technology, but rather on a broader range of subjects because I was interested in so many things. That's why the mixture of business and technology was ideal!
What tips would you give to students in your degree programme?
Gaining practical experience! I used pretty much every opportunity to look into companies and work with them. At the end of my studies, I was able to better assess what suited me and in which direction I would like to go professionally.
What is your advice to all graduates who are looking for their first job?
Pay attention to the choice of company. It was important to me that not only the job was great for me, but also that the company and the interpersonal relationship with the colleagues were right. That's the only way you can look forward to going to work every day!
Which experiences from your studies at HNU have proven valuable in your professional life?
I was particularly impressed by the lecturers who had already worked in a company themselves and could give examples and share their own experiences in class. I also particularly liked the project days, when we were allowed to visit companies where the lecturers themselves had worked in the past. We were allowed to visit them to an extent that was not possible for normal visitors.
How would you complete the following sentence beginning?
HNU... "was a super time for me with great people and the foundation stone for my career today!"
