Katharina Schnizler

Degree programme:  Business Studies in Healthcare Management (BA)

Employer: Häussler Technische Orthopädie GmbH

Position: Trainee in the management of medical supply stores

What did you do before you started studying at HNU?
As a sports and gymnastics teacher, I worked in physiotherapy for four years and then decided to add a degree in healthcare on top of it. The degree opened up great opportunities for me to combine my practical knowledge from the training with the knowledge from the degree in the healthcare sector. I would like to encourage everyone to study even after an apprenticeship and a few years on the job, because I have also experienced that studying is very feasible based on professional aptitude.

What did your practical semester look like and what tasks did you take on?
It was important for me to get to know many different impressions of the various fields of activity I could do after graduation during my internship semester. I am very grateful for the internship at Häussler in the areas of controlling, project management and quality management. Through the different areas, I was able to better assess my strengths and weaknesses and knew which direction I should take after graduation. Thanks to the great experience I had during the practical semester, I had the opportunity to develop further in the company as a working student and now, after my studies, I can carry out a job that is ideal for me.

What is your advice to all graduates who are looking for their first job?
You only get to know your strengths and weaknesses through a lot of insight and practical experience. I find it very helpful to do internships in different areas to find out which job is right for you. This often opens the door to a company.
