South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Cameroon, Sudan, Zambia and Germany: Participants from all these countries took part in the Digital Winter School. They tested the use of Big Data methods in health care - digitally this year.
Every winter semester, Bayern Mentoring PROFI starts for female students in the higher semester. This year the kick-off event for the 18 new mentees took place digitally. Among the mentors are three former HNU mentees of BayernMentoring.
The HNU has set up an interdisciplinary training centre for practical medical skills. Novel mobile digital technology for medicine is designed, built and tested. Telemedical applications, medical devices and anatomical models will become tangible for students.
A study led by HNU’s PhD student Marina Fotteler examines the working and living conditions of seafarers, which were to be improved worldwide when the Maritime Labour Convention (2006) of the International Labour Organisation entered into force. However, there is still room for improvement.
In the new research project "Swammp", HNU’s DigiHealth Institute and Biogents combine natural and health science methods to identify potential future mosquito risk areas. In doing so, they use satellite-based remote sensing and digital traps.

A presentation on the Bavarian-Swabian initiative for digitization in care, the CARE REGIO project, received the "Best Communication Paper Award" at the virtual conference "18th International Conference on Informatics, Management and Technology in Healthcare (ICIMTH) 2020" held in Athens, Greece.
