On March 1, 2023, the Institute for Digital Transformation (IDT) of Neu-Ulm University hosted the ninth IDT Open Lab on the topic of "Sustainability - Driving Energy Efficiency and Electromobility". In short keynote speeches, the speakers showed ways to profitably use the resulting opportunities for companies and to master challenges in the best possible way. The event took place in the Innovation Space of Neu-Ulm University with over 40 participants.

Five experts from different fields and industries shared their knowledge and experiences with the attendees. The IDT Open Lab #9 provided a platform to learn about the latest developments and trends in sustainability, energy efficiency and electromobility. The presentations and lively discussions made it clear how complex and promising these topics are.

The speakers took the participants on a journey into their everyday work and their topics. For example, the audience learned from HNU Professor Dr. Jens Kolb why a combination of sustainability strategies is promising for long-term success. Daniel Herzig from Piëch Automotive AG presented a future vision for mobility concepts that could revolutionize the way we get around. Participants gained insight into technologies driving autonomous driving from Rainer Aue, and Frank Schüler, Senior Vice President Engineering at Piëch Automotive AG, highlighted opportunities and challenges in the development of an electric car in the luxury segment. The importance of systemic thinking in product innovation was highlighted by Dr. Birgit Stelzer in her presentation.
