The “Entrepreneurial Ideation and Prototyping” practical seminar focused on digital transformation and the development of innovative business models for the traditional family business Pfersich. Four international teams worked on specific challenges and received intensive support from Matthias Hörnschemeyer (management), Katharina Ehmig-Klassen (marketing) and Oßvald Brito (e-commerce/digitalization) as well as Prof. Dr. Daniel Schallmo and research assistant Antonia Schulz.
After a theoretical introduction and a detailed presentation of the company, the students turned their attention to the challenges presented. The international composition of the teams brought forth diverse perspectives and creative approaches, which led to particularly innovative results. Within two weeks, the teams developed promising solutions through discussions with customers, interviews with experts and the creation of prototypes and business plans. They presented their results in a pitch in front of a jury on October 8, 2024.
DTE students impress with fresh approaches
The Pfersich company was impressed by the results. “The collaboration and the results of the teams were outstanding,” explained Managing Director Matthias Hörnschemeyer. “Despite the competition, the teams shared their findings openly, which further improved the quality of the results.” The unbiased and fresh approach of the students, who impressed with their innovative thinking, was particularly praised. “We had already discussed some approaches internally, but many new insights were added. The detailed elaboration showed us how much can be achieved in a short space of time,” said Katharina Ehmig-Klassen enthusiastically. Prof. Dr. Schallmo also praised the students' outstanding work: “The teams delivered excellent results. The collaboration with Pfersich was of great added value for everyone involved.”
