What was your main motivation to go abroad?
I had been interested in spending a semester abroad for quite some time. From my point of view, an internship has a great influence on future professional life. This motivated me to do an internship abroad.
You should be prepared to broaden your horizons and adapt to the mentality. This is the only way to have a good time abroad.
What were your biggest concerns?
Basically, I had no concerns, as I am open to everything. I was prepared for difficulties abroad. Despite this, I wasn't worried, as difficulties always arise in life. I was ready for new events and experiences, no matter how stressful they were.
Would you recommend a stay abroad? Why?
I would definitely recommend a stay abroad, as you can gain a lot of experience during this period, which strengthens your own character and enables you to acquire or improve new skills. In addition, a semester abroad has a great positive influence on personal, linguistic and cultural skills.
Fun Fact
Istanbul is also called "city of cats", because a lot of cats live in the metropolis. A cat can appear in every corner.
What did you learn from your stay abroad?
I have learned that in another culture, one's own way of doing things is not always advantageous, even if it would be more effective and easier. The reason for this is not only the cultural difference, but also the way of thinking and working. This made it all the more important for me to show adaptability and flexibility.
Were your expectations met?
My expectations were more than fulfilled. I was able to learn a lot of theoretical and practical things. With all the ancient buildings, beautiful landscapes and endless leisure activities, I could always do something exciting.
Is there anything you would like to highlight about your experience abroad?
You should be willing to broaden your horizons and adapt to the mentality. Because that's the only way to have a great time abroad.
