"Crossing Borders": Dual Career Network Germany meets in Ulm/Neu-Ulm

21.09.2023, University News :

The annual conference of the largest nationwide network of dual-career experts took place this year in Ulm/Neu-Ulm: Under the motto "Crossing Borders", DCND members from all over Germany exchanged ideas on the topics of onboarding and network development from 14 to 15 September. The event was organised by the University of Ulm and the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU).

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Weber, President of the University of Ulm (UU), and Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann, Vice-President for Studies and Teaching, Sustainability at the HNU, welcomed the participants to the 21st Network Conference at the University of Ulm - with 40 participants, the best attended so far. The first day of the conference focused on the topic of onboarding, which is increasingly coming into focus at colleges and universities. Increasingly important for a successful welcome culture, onboarding is already closely linked to dual-career activities. In small group workshops followed by a gallery walk and keynote speeches, participants had the opportunity to discuss the relevance of this topic at the respective network institutions and to hear from experts about successful onboarding.

Stephanie Bühren and Dr. Katharina Moser - the former and current coordinators of the Dual Career Network Swabia - presented on the second day on the topic of "Good Practice Regional Network Development". Afterwards, the thematic arc of tension closed: Under the guiding principle of "Overcoming Boundaries", the future of the network was looked at.
