On the death of Dr.-Ing. Ute Ehr­lich

Neu-Ulm University (HNU) mourns the loss of Dr. Ute Ehrlich. The computer scientist and linguist passed away unexpectedly in August 2022. Within the university, Dr. Ehrlich was involved in the university council since October 2015, among other things.

 

Dr. Ute Ehrlich studied computer science and linguistics and received her Ph.D. in 1990 from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg. Since 1993 she worked at Daimler AG in the field of automated testing of speech dialogs, especially in the design and development of multimodal speech dialogs. There she led several internal and funded projects in different research areas such as automatic translation, controlled speech and speech dialog systems.

Dr. Ute Ehrlich had been a member of the University Council of Neu-Ulm University since October 2015. She contributed to the council for two terms and supported, among other things, the establishment of innovative and IT-related study programs at the university. She was also involved in BayernMentoring from 2006 to 2008 as a mentor from the very beginning, helping female students to plan their careers. HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser: "Dr. Ehrlich was a valuable member of our university council. She leaves behind a big gap. We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to her family in particular."
