Information on the examinations in WS 2020/21: Senate passes special statutes

13.01.2021, Study :

At Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), some exams are taken in person. You can read here how HNU ensures the safety of its students. In addition, the statutes on special study and examination regulations for the winter semester 20/21 are linked.

Not all examinations in the winter semester 2020/21 will take place digitally at Neu-Ulm University (HNU). Some exams will be taken in presence. This is permitted under the Infection Protection Ordinance. However, there will be significantly fewer examinations in attendance than regularly. Half of the lecturers have opted for alternative forms of examination (Moodle tests, assignments, etc.).

In addition, the examination period as a whole has been stretched out to avoid too many people being at HNU at the same time. Most exams are scheduled for the period from 18 January to 5 February. Occasionally, however, in order to stretch the examination period, examinations are held as early as the week of 11 to 15 January and beyond until 19 February.

During the on-site examinations, the health of the students has top priority. Therefore, masks and distance requirements apply during examinations. In addition, the university works on the basis of a constantly updated hygiene concept, which is sent to the students along with further information on the examination procedure.

In order to ensure further safety, the university management is currently examining the possibility of offering quick tests free of charge, which could be carried out by expert external personnel before the examinations. In addition, fever measuring devices could be used before the exams.

Changes since 14 January 2020

The Senate of Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences passed a special statute on Thursday, 14 January 2020, which is available for download. Link to the Statutes on Special Regulations for Studies and Examinations (opens in a new window) (opens new window) for the winter semester 20/21.

The changes at a glance:

  • the type of examination (e.g. online or face-to-face) can still be changed up to one week before the respective examination date (also for WIF, IGM, WIN and WIL). Students are to be informed immediately by the lecturers.
  • Students can deregister from examinations up to one day before the examination. The Examinations Office and the examiner must be informed.
  • Examination deadlines (repetition, ECTS deadlines, etc.) are extended by one semester.
  • Students with children and dependents who had to be cared for during the Corona period will be granted a cancellation option (due to increased workload and less preparation time because of care/childcare, lockdown, closure of day-care facilities, etc.).
