Platform for artificial intelligence: HNU founds AI Hub

03.07.2024, Press Release :

Shaping the future - discovering AI: under this motto, Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) has created a new contact point for companies as well as those interested in studying and further education in the field of artificial intelligence. The AI Hub brings together AI stakeholders, bundles AI activities and promotes the topic in research, teaching and knowledge and technology transfer in a concerted manner.

The application, research and communication of the future technology of artificial intelligence plays an important role at HNU - not only in the Master's degree program "Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics", in the continuing education program "AI Leadership", in the practice network AI Innovation Circle or in the HNU research focus on artificial intelligence.

AI transfer: a central component of the HNU technology transfer centers

In February, HNU became a regional center for the "AI Transfer Plus" program of the Bavarian State Ministry of Digital Affairs with the two technology transfer centers "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics" in Günzburg and "Smart Production and Logistics" in Leipheim. This program aims to strengthen the regional economy and society through the use and implementation of AI technologies. The regional center provides an interface between science and practice by giving companies and organizations in the region the opportunity to benefit from the latest developments in AI research and integrate them into their own processes.

Interdisciplinary, practice-oriented, cooperative: AI Hub leverages synergies at HNU

With the AI Hub, these and other initiatives now have a new common framework. "Our key function in the field of AI is based on the integration of three dimensions: We research AI, we bring AI into practice and we teach AI skills," explains Prof. Dr. Jens Kolb, Vice President for Transfer and Continuing Education at HNU and initiator of the new platform. "We are now mapping this triad centrally and with specific points of contact and offers."
By bundling valuable expertise, innovative approaches and broad practical experience, the newly created AI Hub platform aims to develop the full potential of AI technologies and make it accessible. The focus is on inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration; applied research forms the basis for jointly shaping the future of and with artificial intelligence.
