In October 2023, HNU was awarded the independent right to award doctorates for the DIWAG research area as part of a doctoral college applied for jointly with OTH Amberg-Weiden and HaW Landshut for an initial period of seven years. The aim of the kick-off was to get to know the 21 professors involved and to exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere before the DIWAG doctoral college officially starts in April with the first doctorates.
Starting signal for the joint work
The welcome address by Priv.-Doz. Dr. Elmar Buchner, Head of the Doctoral Center at HNU, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Weber, Vice President for Research at OTH Amberg-Weiden and Prof. Dr. Daniel Houben, Professor at HaW Landshut, was immediately followed by speed networking. In twelve short rounds, the participants got to know each other in pairs and exchanged ideas intensively. Working groups were then formed on the topics of the doctoral committee, steering committee, qualification program and doctoral statutes and the topics were discussed in detail.
At the end of the kick-off event, Elmar Buchner gave an outlook on the next steps in the DIWAG doctoral program. For example, he introduced Dr. Kristina Klitzke, who will join the HNU team as the operational managing director of the doctoral college from April 1. He also referred to the cross-faculty doctoral colloquium at HNU, which will be open to all partner universities in the future.
