About the programme
Content of the degree programme
The degree programme teaches skills in three specialist areas with particular reference to healthcare and clinics:
- Informatics,
- Management and
- Methods
Informatics
In the field of computer science, you will acquire expertise to actively support the digital transformation in the healthcare sector. The focus is on:
- What impact do artificial intelligence and digital applications have on clinical processes?
- In joint projects with doctors, nursing staff and therapists, you will develop software applications that are customised for your healthcare facility - and thus implement more efficient and better patient care.
- You will acquire expertise in data protection and data law, but also learn about the economic and ethical framework conditions of the healthcare sector as a basis for your work.
- During your studies, you will be employed by a company and will not only receive a salary, but will also be able to apply the knowledge you have learnt directly within the company.
Management and methods
As a future healthcare IT specialist, you will stand for creative problem solving and agile project management and know that you can only develop, successfully implement and put good IT solutions into practice as part of a team. These methodological skills are not only taught to you during your studies, you can also apply them directly in your work at the hospital. You will learn to assess alternative solutions to problems using scientific methods, evaluate their effects on patients and processes and reflect on the success of the transfer for your organisation. You will be actively supported by our lecturers, particularly in the practical transfer modules.
Part-time study format
With the part-time study format 2 plus 3:2 days of online study and 3 days of IT practice, the practical and applied relevance of the theoretical content is on your agenda right from the start. However, 2 plus also means that in addition to the two weekly online study days, we organise two compact attendance blocks on our campus each semester. Learning is an active, social process and is all the more successful if you know your study teams and lecturers personally. The HNU stands for a familiar and personal atmosphere, which we would like to share with you.
