Housing for exchange students
The International Office assists you in finding accommodation during your application process, if you come for 1-2 semester(s) as an exchange student from one of our partner universities.
Offers by the International Office
We cooperate with the public student residence Heinz-Rühmann-Straße in Wiley (address: Heinz-Rühmann-Straße 9, 89231 Neu-Ulm). The student residence is run by the Augsburg student services (Wohnservice des Studierendenwerks Augsburg). There are single flats (as well as double apartments) with their own kitchen and bathroom. The monthly rent is approx. € 380. Details and photos can be found here (opens in a new window).
Application process

Online application: Please indicate that you wish to get support and choose your priority in Mobility-Online.

Room offer: If there is a room available for you, we will forward your name to the housing adminstration for reservation and inform you about next reservation steps by email (in June for winter semester and in November for summer term).

Room reservation: Confirm your reservation with the housing service via online application and confirm once more with the link that you will receive by email . We send you the digital rental contract to be signed and more details by email. In mid-July (for upcoming winter term) or mid-December (for upcoming summer term), you have to transfer a pre-payment of the rent:
- € 1,256 (2 months' rent + deposit)
- € 2,768 (entire rent + deposit)
Please note
- The student residences are not run by the HNU. The International Office is not the housing administration, we get you in contact and support you during the room reservation.
- We only receive a limited number of rooms at the Wiley student residence (Heinz-Rühmann-Straße 9) .
- We allocate students from outside Europe first, e.g. due to visa requirements.
Room exchange via the International Office
We have set up a room exchange with HNU outgoing students for interim rent. Outgoing students rent out their room in a shared flat or their room in a student residence. We can get you in direct contact and support you with formalities. Room offers are usually between € 400-600 monthly.
Rooms in private residences
There are more private (student) residences in Neu-Ulm and Ulm. You have to get active here an get in direct contact with the housing administration.
- ilive Campus Village: Modern private dormitory with single studios (apartments), located in the city center of Neu-Ulm near the HNU, monthly rent is about € 600. You will find further details on their website: https://www.campus-village.de/en/. If you want to rent an apartment, please send an email to: info[at]campus-village[dot]de.
- Bischof-Sproll-Haus: An older private dormitory with basic equipped single rooms in shared apartments (shared kitchen, bathroom), located in Ulm city with bus connection to the HNU, less expensive rent about € 300-400 monthly, address: Heidenheimer Straße 82, 89075 Ulm, e-mail contact. For this residence you can also find interim offers on the webpage „wg-gesucht“- please enter Ulm and Neu-Ulm (they are twin cities).
- the private residence Donauresidenz (address: Bahnhofstraße 81 in 89231 Neu-Ulm) run by the Uthoff family. Single and double rooms in a common flat with shared bathroom and shared kitchen. Men and women live together. Monthly rent depending on room size from € 385. You can find more details and photos here (website in German).
