Star­t­up Camp One Health 2024

A special experience: students and lecturers from three different countries come together on the intensive "Startup Camp One Health" course at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences. What they have in common is an interest in innovation in the healthcare sector.

The week offers the opportunity to delve deep into the topics of start-ups and One Health and to learn more about digital innovations in medicine.

The participants work in teams on exciting, interactive tasks, they can actively contribute their ideas and learn valuable skills for the future.

Contents of the course

Contents of the course
  • Researching, understanding and evaluating problems and opportunities in innovations in medicine
  • Modelling and validating the solution for new innovations in healthcare and pitching the suggested solution in multidisciplinary teams
  • Describing how proposed solutions can be transformed into new sustainable business models and what impact and improvement opportunities innovations have in medicine
  • Evaluating personal contribution and the team's performance
  • Identifying further study opportunities
Special focus

The focus of the course is on the importance of One Health, innovations in medicine, their possible applications, opportunities and challenges as well as their contribution to solving the problems in the healthcare system (e.g. shortage of specialists, financing problems, etc.) and developing new innovative solutions.

Learning goals for students

The student:

  • is familiar with various innovations, Entrepreneurship, One Health and is sensitised to the special features in medicine (e.g. ethics, data protection, legislation, classification as high-risk systems, etc.).
  • knows about innovations in medicine, possible applications, opportunities, risks, problems and challenges.
  • can search, identify and evaluate the problems and business opportunities in this area.
  • can innovate and develop new solutions to the problems.
  • can use the development tools and create models to find new solutions.
  • works appropriately in a multidisciplinary team.

Travel and accommodation

Participants are responsible for organising and paying for their own travel and accommodation.

The HNU has reserved a call-off contingent for students at the Orange Hotel Neu-Ulm (opens in a new window) for the period 15.04.2024 - 20.04.2024. The hotel is only a 10-minute walk from the HNU. However, participating students are also free to book another hotel or accommodation.

Health insurance

For most students from EU countries, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is sufficient. If students do not have an EHIC, they should first contact the HNU International Office before taking out travel insurance for BIP participation, as not all insurance policies are authorised for registration at HNU.

Journey to us

Travelling by train

If travelling by train, you should choose Ulm main station as your destination.

Travelling by plane

The closest airports to Ulm are Memmingen (1 hour by bus and train), Stuttgart (80 minutes by train), Frankfurt (2 hours by train) and Munich (2 hours by train).

From Ulm Central Station you can take a train to Neu-Ulm Central Station (3 minutes) or a bus (9 minutes). The train station is Neu-Ulm is called "Neu-Ulm" and the bus stop at HNU is called "Hochschule Neu-Ulm".
