Guest lecture: Insights into the healthcare system in Turkey

04.12.2023, Study :

Students on the B.A. Business Studies in Healthcare course were able to enjoy two informative guest lectures in November: Prof. Dr. Ece Uğurluoğlu Aldoğan, lecturer at Ankara University, spoke about human resources in healthcare and organizational structures in hospitals in Turkey.

In her guest lecture on human resources in the healthcare sector, Prof. Dr. Ece Uğurluoğlu Aldoğan addressed the challenges facing the Turkish healthcare and hospital sector. It was pointed out that the shortage of skilled doctors and nurses in public healthcare can lead to longer waiting times, while in the private healthcare sector there are well-trained staff and hardly any waiting times. The organizational structures of hospitals in Turkey - the subject of the Turkish lecturer's second presentation - reflect the complex requirements of a multi-layered healthcare system. As a rule, hospitals have a hierarchical structure, with different levels of management and department heads ensuring overall management and coordination.
