Start of the first HNU incubator

15.05.2020, Transfer :

Students from Israel, Croatia and the HNU work virtually on new business ideas

The Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences cooperates with many colleges and universities worldwide. Some of these partnerships allow for the exchange of students and staff, partnerships focus on joint teaching and research. For many years there has been an intensive cooperation with the College of Management Academic Studies (COLMAN) in Israel. Among other things, joint Design Thinking projects with students from both universities have already been carried out at companies in the Ulm region.
Since this semester, there is another cooperation in the field of applied teaching: HNU, together with COLMAN and the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula in Croatia, has created a virtual incubator.

The aim is to impart basic methodological knowledge about entrepreneurship and to develop business ideas in internationally mixed teams. As a virtual platform, the incubator enables young entrepreneurs from anywhere in the world to work together, cooperate and learn from each other. This is a unique opportunity for students in a new kind of learning community and environment to network with students from all over the world and work on innovative solutions.

In total, over 60 students will work on new business models in nine mixed teams between April and June 2020. Coaching is provided by two lecturers from each of the participating universities. In four joint sessions, the teams bring each other up to date and present their progress in online video conferences and in smaller group formats. In addition, the teams continue to work individually on their solutions. Despite the closed national borders, the long distances and the restrictions of COVID-19, the use of different collaboration and video conferencing solutions allows productive and uncomplicated collaboration. The event will end in mid-June 2020 with the presentation of the teams' elaborated solutions in a public presentation.
