Under the motto "Study. Educate. Network." since the keys were handed over on 17 December 2009, a total of 68,403 students, conference guests and seminar participants have visited the joint institution of the three universities at 3,260 events in the university castle. 230 of these were completely new, joint event formats organised by the three new "Bavarian-Swabian Castle Lords".
Particularly noteworthy is the large number of public events, including the Illertiss Health Talks, art exhibitions and international meetings and conferences to promote dialogue between business, science and society. As the most recent example, the "Bavarian-Swabian Transfer Innovation Prize", which was awarded for the first time this year, was created with the close involvement of the public and regional companies.
HNU President Prof Dr Uta M. Feser congratulates on the anniversary
"Over the past 15 years, the Vöhlinschloss University Centre has developed into a place of knowledge, innovation and community. May it continue to be a signpost for new ideas, education and exchange in the future. Congratulations and here's to many more successful years!"
About the Vöhlin Castle
The Vöhlin Castle in Illertissen is one of the most important sights in Bavarian Swabia. Built in the 12th and 13th centuries as the "Tissen Castle" of the Counts of Kirchberg, the estate was acquired by the Memmingen merchant and patrician family Vöhlin in 1520 and expanded into the "High Castle of Illertissen". It remained in their private ownership for 236 years.
From 1803, the castle was of regional importance as the official residence of several state and municipal authorities and offices. In mid-2009, the last branch of the Neu-Ulm district court to be housed here was closed. Since 2009, the main building and side wing of the Vöhlinschloss have been available to the universities of Augsburg, Kempten and Neu-Ulm as a training, management and conference centre.
