It is the strategic goal of the International Business School HNU to expand its research and innovation capacities, to extend its international network and to make a contribution to overcoming global challenges. This requires forging new alliances and tapping into additional sources of funding and resources. At European level, Horizon Europe is the European Union's most important research and innovation program. It strengthens the EU's scientific and technological base and thus contributes significantly to the realization of the European Commission's strategic goals. It also supports cooperation and strengthens the impact of research and innovation by promoting the creation and dissemination of knowledge and technologies. For HNU, which is strong in research and innovation, it is the logical next step to become more involved in this area.
Horizon Europe Capacity Building Workshop
The two-day workshop was co-hosted by two Brussels-based organizations, European Regions Research and Innovation Network (ERRIN) and Universities of Applied Sciences4Europe (UAS4Europe), and aimed to familiarize and connect representatives of regional research and innovation ecosystems, universities of applied sciences and public administrations as well as policy makers with the framework conditions of Horizon Europe's Pillar II. They received valuable impulses to identify the right topics, form successful consortia and prepare applications for upcoming calls.
Networking with BayFOR in Brussels
The meeting with Karin Lukas-Eder and Tim Uebelen at the BayFOR EU Liaison Office focused on how to make the most of the BayFOR service offering. These include information on European research and innovation policy, updates on decision-making processes at EU level and the early involvement of the relevant bodies in research ideas and research interests. Very good contacts already exist between the Africa Institute at HNU and the scientific coordination office Bavaria-Africa at BayFOR, for which Anna Stegmann took part in the meeting. Together they identified a number of further starting points for developing projects in an even more targeted manner in the future.
