Supporting educational projects with used cell phones

12.01.2024, University News :

The University of Applied Sciences Neu-Ulm (HNU) participates in the "Handyaktion Bayern". In this campaign, old cell phones are collected and the proceeds are used to support educational projects. Anyone who would like to make a contribution can now drop off their old cell phone in one of the collection boxes provided throughout the city; one possible collection point is the HNU library.

In cooperation with the Fairtrade steering group of the city of Neu-Ulm, HNU is once again taking part in the "Handyaktion Bayern" this year. The aim of this campaign is to recycle defective or no longer needed cell phones or to resell them as second-hand devices. For every cell phone collected, 50 cents go to international education projects.

The disused cell phones and their accessories can be thrown into special collection boxes throughout the city and in the entrance area of the HNU library. The devices handed in will then be professionally recycled.

All data on the devices should be deleted on your own responsibility before handing them in and the cell phone should be reset to factory settings. Data protection is of course guaranteed during the recycling process and in the event of a possible resale. The collection boxes are also locked so that cell phones that have been dropped off cannot be removed.

The collection campaign runs until February 29, 2024.
