The congress was held as a "hybrid event" and had 100 participants on site and around 250 online. International speakers also had their say and offered insights into other care systems, for example in the USA and Belgium. The University and Rehabilitation Clinics Ulm (RKU) are maximum care clinics with a focus on orthopaedics and neurology.
In her contribution, she explained how universities make an important contribution to quality development in the health care system by locating nursing training in the academic sector: the use of university-qualified nursing staff in direct patient care ensures the quality of nursing care in the daily work with people in need of care and their caregivers; current scientific findings, research-based solutions to problems and innovative approaches to solutions are applied. International studies show that evidence-based nursing practice reduces complication rates and achieves higher safety standards. For example, lower infection rates and a less frequent occurrence of falls have been demonstrated.
With the establishment of a primary qualifying degree programme in nursing (B.Sc.), Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences plans to make an important contribution to the development of excellence in nursing and health care. The new degree programme met with great interest among the participants.
