Launch of the In­ter­na­tional PhD Pro­gramme with HNU and Macquarie Uni­versity in Sydney

Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences and Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia have signed an agreement on a Joint PhD Programme in the field of Health IT.

At the Center for Research on Service Sciences (CROSS) at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), Professor Dr. Heiko Gewald and his team conduct intensive research on innovative digital products and services. One focus of their work is the challenges of digitalization of healthcare and the adoption of digital solutions by the ageing society. The CROSS and the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) at Macquarie University have been successfully researching these topics in cooperation over the last years.

The two universities have now signed an agreement on an International PhD Programme in the field of Health IT. HNU President Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser says: "The International PhD Programme with Macquarie University once again demonstrates the high standard of research at HNU and the intensive cooperation we maintain with our international partner universities".

This is an exciting step in the long and successful relationship  we have built with HNU based on combining evidence-based research and industry relevant experience,” said Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite, Founding Director of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation.

The aim of the IPP is to expand research activities between the partners and to jointly supervise doctoral students. The program includes an 18-month research stay of the young scientists at the respective other research institution. The PhD is awarded by the internationally renowned Macquarie University. Professor Dr. Heiko Gewald, Director at the CROSS states: "We are looking forward to combining the mutual competence profiles of our institutes in order to be able to offer outstanding doctoral students a truly international perspective in a highly innovative field of research".
