09.08.2023, Study :

Students from Neu-Ulm University (HNU) presented their creative works at the cultural evening as part of the elective module "Cultural Project". From photography to analog and digital art to film music compositions, a broad spectrum of creative and artistic projects was represented.

On June 16, 2023, the third Culture Evening took place at Neu-Ulm University (HNU), where students presented their project results from the elective module "Culture Project". The event offered a diverse insight into the creative work of the students.

Among the works, for example, was a photo series entitled "Detachment from Reality," which presented analog photographs in the form of art prints. A film project showed fascinating video sequences of Neu-Ulm and Ulm from unusual perspectives that are often overlooked in everyday life. Other projects included film music compositions, a photographic depiction of facets of human emotion, and creative writing projects with short stories and re-purposed song lyrics.

An elaborate model construction of a "Green City" of the future, illustrated the idea of an environmentally friendly city. Digital and analog drawing art projects were also presented, illustrating the creative process in both media. A sketchbook, which could also be continued by the guests of the cultural evening, also offered an interactive way to get creative. In the presentation of the digital drawing technique, the student went into detail about the learning process of the new technology.

A special highlight was the performance of the HNU choir. One student got involved in the choir as part of the course and in the process organized this program item at the cultural evening. The guest appearance of the singer of the Ulm band Roadspring Army rounded off the evening musically.

The elective module "Culture Project" has been offered at HNU since the summer semester 2020 and enables students to develop their competences and skills in the creative and cultural field. Under the guidance of Professor Dr. Ulrike Gerdiken, students had the freedom to develop their own project ideas and engage with cultural engagement as well as social contexts.

The students describe the elective as a pleasant change from the regular study routine, offering room for creative development. This was also reflected in the variety of projects presented.

Students interested in this subject can find more information about the course on the university intranet.
