Prof. Dr. Walter Swoboda, physician, computer scientist and research professor at HNU, will strengthen the expert pool of the G-BA Innovation Committee from 2021.

Expert pool of the G-BA makes funding decisions on health services research
With these experts, the Federal Joint Committee ensures that its Innovation Committee has the necessary scientific and practical expertise. This involves new, innovative forms of healthcare that go beyond the current standard provided by the public health insurance funds. The tasks of the members include defining the emphases and criteria for funding in funding notices and taking decisions on funding applications received.
"Digital therapy will play an important role in the future. I am very much looking forward to assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of new procedures," explains Swoboda.
The term of office of the honorary experts on the Innovation Committee of the Federal Joint Committee is two years; re-appointment is possible.

The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) is the highest decision-making body of the joint self-government of physicians, dentists, hospitals and health insurance funds in Germany. It issues directives for the benefit catalogue of the statutory health insurance funds (GKV) for more than 73 million insured persons and thus specifies which services in medical care are reimbursed by the GKV.
