Centre for Post­gradu­ate stud­ies of the HNU sup­ports On­line Edu­ca­tion Pro­gramme for Med­ical Pro­fes­sion­als

Doctors and dentists have their expertise in the medical field, but for a successful start into self-employment or for their successful office management they need up-to-date know-how in business administration, including the areas of law, taxes, marketing, accounting and personnel management, as these are not part of their medical studies. JUMPSTART is primarily aimed at medical professionals who are before, during or shortly after starting their own business.

The online educational programme contains twelve learning modules in the "blended learning" model. Participants are given access to an e-learning platform. The knowledge modules contained therein are clearly structured and practice-oriented. The knowledge per module is imparted through presentations, instructional videos and a written teaching document by experienced lecturers from the corporate world and from the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences. Subsequently, questions can be answered for each module in the style of a knowledge quiz before an examination is taken at the end of the programme.

JUMPSTART usually lasts six months and can be implemented flexibly. In this way, knowledge can be acquired individually, personally and according to the time preferences of the individual. "The Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences has been training doctors in business management topics for more than 20 years. We are happy to contribute this experience to the joint online study programme JUMPSTART. Well-founded practical knowledge in business management and legal issues is a central prerequisite for successful self-employment," says Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser, President of the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences.

The lecturers, Prof. Dr. Sylvia Schafmeister and Prof. Dr. Patrick Da-Cruz, head the MBA programme Leadership and Management in Healthcare. Prof. Dr. Sylvia Schafmeister is also the Strategic Head of Postgraduate studies and the head of the B.A. Management for Healthcare Professions programme. The team of professors also offers online consultation hours to the participants of the educational programme. Upon successful completion, the certificate of the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences is awarded to confirm participation.

The fee for the educational programme is 1.490 € plus VAT.
