26.09.2024, Research:

At the 19th International Conference on Information Systems (WI2024), Prof. Dr. Heiko Gewald, Research Professor of Information Management and Director of the Institute for Digital Innovation at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), was elected as one of three new spokespersons for the Digital Health section of the German Informatics Society. Together with Dr.-Ing. Melanie Reuter-Oppermann (Maastricht University) and Prof. Dr. Till Winkler (University of Hagen), Prof. Dr. Heiko Gewald will continue to develop the specialist group over the next three years; the chairmanship within the speakership will rotate annually.

The Digital Health specialist group is the central exchange platform for researchers, practitioners and political decision-makers on the topic of digitalization in healthcare in all its facets. It serves as a common point of contact for exchanging information on research work and practical topics or commenting on political measures. With over 130 members, the group organizes both internal and external events and makes substantial contributions to shaping the digital transformation in the healthcare sector.

The specialist group is integrated into the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI), which is the largest specialist society for computer science in the German-speaking world with over 17,000 personal and 250 corporate members. The GI provides the Digital Health specialist group with a strong basis for interdisciplinary cooperation.
