Health, diversity and community at the HNU Summer Days

20.06.2024, University News :

Whether it was outdoor sports, diversity and health workshops or a relaxed get-together in Wiley Park - the Summer Days at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) offered students and employees a varied program from 11 to 14 June. As part of HNU's anniversary year, the Summer Days combined Health Day, Diversity Day and Community Day.

Physical and mental health, diversity and community are very important at HNU. HNU addressed these topics at the Summer Days with, among other things, the rental of exercise-promoting equipment, lectures, information stands and workshops.

Health Day

"Campusfit - Join in" was the motto of the HNU Health Day. Why does our brain need our legs to think? Barmer Krankenkasse answered this question at its information stand. The AOK stand offered a speed stepper, body fat measurement and advice and the Techniker Krankenkasse was on site with mini table tennis, fresh fruit and smoothies. Ratiopharm Ulm was also represented with a basketball hoop. In addition, students were able to borrow disk golf sets, footballs and basketballs and exercise-promoting equipment such as a deskcycle. An information stand provided information about ways out of violence.

Diversity Day

United in diversity: HNU set an example for tolerance and against discrimination with Diversity Day on June 12. Lebenshilfe Donau-Iller, AutisPlus and Young and Queer Ulm e.V. were represented with information stands and various activities. In addition, three different workshops were held on the topics of intersex, autism and everyday discrimination.

Community Day

The HNU Student Council took part in the Summer Days with a networking event for students. From June 12 to 14, students were invited to spend the afternoon and evening hours together over drinks and a special culinary offering from various food trucks.

What I learned at the Health Day: Physical exercise cleanses the synapses and improves the ability to think.
