13.06.2022, Research :

Researchers from the InnoSÜD subproject SITTT at HNU presented their design thinking concept, which is specifically tailored to older people, at the 17th International Conference on Design Science Research in Information Systems and Technology (DESRIST) on June 2.

This year's DESRIST conference focusing on transdisciplinarity was held in St. Petersburg, Florida from June 1-3, 2022. The event was dedicated to the objective of creating a new framework for transdisciplinary research within Information Systems by incorporating Design Science Research (DSR) and to jointly address complex challenges with innovative methods in the future.

HNU researchers Alexandra Jussli, Kathrin Kim and Prof. Dr. Heiko Gewald, together with Jason Thatcher (Professor at Fox School of Business, Philadelphia), presented their paper "SeniorDT: A Design Thinking-Based Approach to Requirements Engineering Involving Elderly Users", which was developed in the context of the InnoSÜD sub-project Senior IT Think Tank (SITTT) (opens in a new window) in collaboration with the Senior:innenberatung of the city of Neu-Ulm. In this project, the researchers are investigating how design thinking can be used to better understand the needs of older people. SeniorDT" modifies classic approaches to design thinking and adapts them in such a way that older participants work together with representatives from business, public administration and society on digital issues. Special attention is paid to collaboration at eye level and the development of empathy.
