International teaching cooperations in times of Corona

06.09.2021, International :

Even in times of reduced mobility, international teaching cooperations remain vibrant. A current example is the cooperation with the Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) in Bangkok, Thailand. On 31 August 2021, Prof. Dr. Elmar Steurer, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), held an online guest lecture on the topic of "Growth and Globalisation" in the subject area of macroeconomics as part of a course by Assistant Professor Suppanunta Romprasert, Ph.D., Acting Chairwoman on the Academic Division of the Faculty of Economics at the SWU. The Thai students were thrilled by this opportunity and expressed their sincere thanks in numerous messages.

Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) in Bangkok, Thailand (opens in a new window) and Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) have maintained a very active and intensive cooperation for six years now.  The focus is on a lively exchange of students and teachers, which also receives financial support from the Erasmus+ programme in the years 2016-2018 and 2019-2022 through scholarships.

Even in times of Corona, the exchange has remained avtive. Thai lecturers have given numerous online guest lectures at the HNU and vice versa. The guest lecture by Prof. Dr. Elmar Steurer, initiator of the Erasmus+ cooperation and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, was very well received. Here is an excerpt of the numerous positive feedbacks from the Thai participants: "Thanks a bunch, Prof. Elmar, for being such a great online lecturer!", "Thank you for sharing your knowledge with my students.", "Thank you for shaping the Macroeconomics perspective.", "Thank you for helping tonight to blossom before saying good night after the class is done.", "We can't thank you enough."

In the winter semester 2021/22, 14 Thai students from the SWU will spend an exchange semester at the HNU. We are looking forward to welcoming them.
