1) Studies and scientific work

  • 1976: Graduated in business administration with a degree in business administration at Saarland University in Saarbrücken
  • 1977-80: Empirical research work at the Society for Interdisciplinary Social Research GmbH in Berlin (Intersofo GmbH Berlin)
  • 1982: Doctorate with an empirical thesis in the field of 'Technology assessment of the incipient use of IT in offices' at the FU Berlin   

2) Industry experience

      Chemical-pharmaceutical industry

  • 1982-90: Supervision and management of organisational and strategic projects as well as measures within the framework of a German-British post-merger integration for the 'Corporate Development' department of Schering AG Berlin
  • 1990-92: Head of the 'divisional secretariat' of the plant protection division (Schering AG Berlin) as a service instance for the heads of function of the division

      Mechanical Engineering

  • 1992-97: Follow-up of privatisation projects of the Treuhandanstalt Berlin/BvS. Monitoring of the company's obligations according to the privatisation contract (e.g. regarding investment obligations and jobs to be maintained), examination of restructuring concepts in case of ailing company development (securing jobs), negotiations with investors, ministries and banks regarding the financing of resilient restructuring concepts

  • 2014-2016: Research focus 'Development of sector-specific risk management procedures for the management' of mini-grids (based on the results of a self-organised global survey of manufacturers and operators of such mini-grids)
  • 2015: Publication of a practice-oriented guide "Risk Mitigation for Mini-Grids - A new approach to guide mini-grid deployment" (60 pages) together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the international industry association 'Alliance for Rural Development' based in Brussels.   • 2017-dato: Implementation of trainings in 'Entrepreneurship for student entrepreneurs and their lecturers (Train the Trainer Principle)' at Kenyatta University in Nairobi. Duration of the project: 2017 until end of 2020].
  • 2018: Formulation of a detailed thesis paper "Economic policy appeal for comprehensive industrial cooperation between Europe and Africa". (22 p.) Discussion of this paper at the invitation of numerous economic policy institutions and associations. [Oct. 2018 to Apr. 2019].
  • 2018-dato: Lectures on questions of Africa's development and the economic and geopolitical consequences of China's extensive engagement in Africa
  • 2019: Field research in Namibia on problems of economic sustainability of mini-grids for power supply in remote villages (Tsumkwe and Gam). Joint project of the Ingolstadt University of Technology, the University of Bayreuth and the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences on behalf of the BMFT, duration of the project: 2019 until the end of 2022
