HNU Pro­fessor Bar­tel elec­ted "Pro­fessor of the Year 2024"

Prof Dr Alexander Bartel from Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) was the winner of the nationwide "Professor of the Year" competition in the Engineering Sciences / Computer Science category. With this award, the UNICUM Foundation honours professors who support their students in a special way in their career preparation. The competition is organised under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. A total of 600 professors were nominated in this round.

Prof Dr Alexander Bartel is Professor of Agile Software Engineering at the Faculty of Information Management at HNU. The "Professor of the Year" award not only recognises his outstanding teaching, but also his outstanding commitment beyond this, for example his cooperation with employers in research and teaching, the placement of internships and entry-level positions or the organisation of career guidance offers.

Prof. Dr Alexander Bartel is delighted to receive this award: "I am very grateful and honoured to have been awarded the title 'Professor of the Year'. This recognition encourages me to continue my commitment to the students and their professional future and to expand the dialogue and cooperation with industry. My special thanks go to the students, whose interest and commitment motivate and enrich me every day. It is a matter close to my heart not only to provide them with sound specialised knowledge, but also to prepare them specifically for the opportunities and challenges of their career entry. I receive a lot of support from HNU, especially from the Faculty of Information Management."

The jury

The award winners are selected by an independent jury chaired by the former Vice President of the German Rectors' Conference and Rector of the University of Duisburg-Essen, Prof Dr Ulrich Radtke. This is done on the basis of well-founded suggestions on the website professordesjahres.de (opens in a new window) and extensive research.
