Prof Dr Alexander Bartel is Professor of Agile Software Engineering at the Faculty of Information Management at HNU. The "Professor of the Year" award not only recognises his outstanding teaching, but also his outstanding commitment beyond this, for example his cooperation with employers in research and teaching, the placement of internships and entry-level positions or the organisation of career guidance offers.

The award winners are selected by an independent jury chaired by the former Vice President of the German Rectors' Conference and Rector of the University of Duisburg-Essen, Prof Dr Ulrich Radtke.
