HNU starts the sum­mer semester with more than 500 new stu­dents

"Welcome to summer semester 2024" was the motto at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) on March 12. Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann, Vice President for Studies and Teaching, welcomed more than 500 new students, 230 of whom are studying in their first semester at the university. This brings the total number of students enrolled at HNU to 4,000.

Demand-oriented degree courses, practical projects with companies and innovative teaching concepts - these are the hallmarks of studying at HNU. At the start of the summer semester, Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann welcomed the "first-year students" in the large lecture hall and introduced the HNU, its faculties and its mission statement. In her speech, she encouraged the students to take responsibility, to offer help and also to get help themselves. She went on to emphasize: "What counts in the end is not only specialist knowledge, but also soft skills such as the ability to work in a team or the ability to appreciate others and defend your own points of view. This is what you will take with you from your studies at HNU."

Prof. Dr. Volker Reuters, President of Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU), was also on hand to welcome the students on the cooperative degree courses at HNU and THU.

International university

HNU also welcomes 21 students from 15 partner universities from 11 countries in the summer semester. In addition, 28 international full-time students from 21 countries are enrolled at HNU. 37 HNU students will be able to spend a semester abroad at 18 partner universities in 12 countries during the summer semester; six of them will be completing a double degree program in Finland.
