The water dispenser, which is now in operation, not only provides a convenient and free way to get fresh drinking water, but also supports HNU's efforts to promote sustainable practices on campus. The initiative, which emerged from the elective subject "Applied Design Thinking", aims to reduce plastic consumption and minimize the use of disposable bottles. The water dispenser also contributes to HNU's self-image as a healthy university - a balanced water balance supports the learning process. The new water fountain in the canteen (Building A) will be followed by another one next year: In spring, a second water dispenser will be installed in the cafeteria of Building B.
The provision of the water dispenser is part of Wieland-Werke AG's comprehensive sustainability strategy. In this way, the company is supporting the promotion of young talent and charitable projects in the region.
"As an international company and leading manufacturer in the metal industry, we attach great importance to sustainability and social responsibility in all our activities," explains Christina Welte, Head of HR Administration, Recruiting & Marketing at Wieland. "We have a long-standing partnership with HNU. Together we can achieve more for a more sustainable future - that's why this support was a very special concern for us." HNU Vice President Prof. Dr. Jens Kolb welcomes this commitment and is pleased about the fruits of the cooperation: "The installation of this water dispenser is not only a further step towards environmental friendliness on our campus, but also an example of cooperation between the university and business. We would like to thank Wieland-Werke AG for their support."
HNU invites all students, staff and guests to use the new water dispenser and actively participate in the common goal of a sustainable future.
