Study is good, early study is even better

Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences and the College of the Schulbrüder Illertissen work together to promote gifted students
Gifted young people at the College of the School Brothers in Illertissen can now study before they even have their Abi in the bag. A cooperation agreement with the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) makes this possible.

The cooperation between the school and the university allows gifted students with the appropriate grades to attend lectures at the HNU - and also take the corresponding exams. The credit points earned in the process are recognised for later studies. The cooperation agreement was signed by HNU Vice President Prof. Dr. Julia Kormann and the headmaster of the college, Manfred Schöpplein, OStD i. K., on 14 September 2016. The cooperation was initiated by Prof. Dr. Harald Gerlach, the school representative of the HNU, and StD i. K. Josef Jöchle, the subject supervisor for computer science and upper school coordinator at the College of the School Brothers. "Essentially, our aim is to encourage all those who can easily cope with the school material by challenging them. With us, they are in lectures together with regular students and thus get much more input. And they can already experience during their time at school what they can expect in a degree programme," says Professor Gerlach.

Already this winter semester, the first four pupils from Illertiss will come to the college: they will attend the lecture "Introduction to Programming Technology" in the study programme "Information Management Automotive".

The College of the School Brothers Illertissen is the third school to cooperate with HNU for early studies. Pupils from the Neu-Ulm State Technical High School and Vocational High School and the Lessing Grammar School in Neu-Ulm already have this opportunity.
