Kick-off of the Star­tupSÜD event series THE TRI­ANGLE: New­comers met ex­per­i­enced start-ups in a pitch com­pete­tion

„Let’s go for drinks!“, that was the motto of the launch event of THE TRIANGLE on 30 June 2020 at HNU. THE TRIANGLE enables the exchange between young and experienced start-ups and introduces students to the topic of start-ups in a relaxed atmosphere. The winners of the pitch competition were the newcomer "Wasserpunkt" and the established start-up RECUP.

 

Open stage for start-ups: With Spark2Go, Wasserpunkt and PENG, three newly founded companies presented their innovative business ideas last Thursday at THE TRIANGLE, competing against the established start-up RECUP and the medium-sized brewery Berg. All 30 guests on site took over the task oft he jury, and interested parties could also join in via ZOOM. The main topic of the eveninig: innovative business ideas in the field of beverage industry.

„New blood“ against "old hands": Deidcated start-ups from the region presented themselves in a pitch competition

Wasserpunkt, an inter-university start-up founded by University of Ulm, Biberach University of Applied Sciences and Ulm University of Applied Sciences, made the race among the three newcomers. The idea behind Wasserpunkt is sustainable in a double sense: Drinking water dispensers are to be set up in German city centres - and 25 percent of the profits will go to worldwide aid projects that work to provide access to clean drinking water. The idea was rewarded with 500 Euro prize money contributed by the IHK Ulm/Schwaben.

"Never lose the glow in your eyes": Established start-ups passed on their experience to young people interested in founding their own company

The pitches were followed by lively discussions: Among other things, the role of universities in in start-up culture and the opportunities and challenges facing companies in the era of COVID19 were discussed.

Afterwards, the established start-up RECUP and the Berg Brewery presented themselves to their audience. They also gave the youngsters the advice to let themselves always be driven by the passion for their own product: "Never lose the glow in your eyes ", Managing Director Uli Zimmermann of the Berg Brewery recommended to all young founders. He also emphasized that even an established medium-sized company must always stay current when it comes to innovation.

The winner of the evening was RECUP, whose product REBOWL is supposed to set new impulses in the takeaway business.

Thematically suitable, Guests and founders enjoyed the rest of the evening with some beer in the Wileypark. The relaxed get-together offered the opportunity to deepen topics of conversation and to establish contacts. Interested parties can already safe the date for the second round of THE TRIANGLE on December 03, 2020.
