01.10.2024, University News :

As part of the nationwide “Resuscitation Week”, Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences took part in organizing resuscitation training at Vöhringen secondary school on 18 September 2024. Pupils in Year 7 were given the opportunity to learn life-saving measures under expert guidance and thus strengthen their ability to act in an emergency.

The resuscitation training was organized and carried out in close cooperation with various project participants: Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences, represented by Prof. Dr. Judith Mantz, Dr. Biesenberger and Dr. Kohlmann, doctors from the GP practice Dr. Biesenberger from Illertissen, the health region plus , represented by Marc Löchner, and the German Heart Foundation, represented by Markus Kulla, taught the students practical skills such as cardiac massage and the use of a defibrillator.

HNU professor and co-initiator of the project, Dr. Judith Mantz, emphasized the importance of early training in first aid: “Every second counts in the event of a cardiac arrest. Through regular training, we can prepare pupils for such situations at a young age and encourage them to intervene courageously in an emergency.” Gesundheitsregion plus and the German Heart Foundation also emphasized the need to raise awareness of resuscitation measures among the population.

The “Resuscitation Week” has been held nationwide for several years to highlight the importance of first aid and resuscitation. Every year, more than 50,000 people in Germany suffer a cardiac arrest, where rapid assistance is crucial for survival. Resuscitation training is therefore an important contribution to promoting health literacy among young people and shows that everyone has a role to play.
