The talk was moderated by Professor Dr Thomas Bayer and the Bavarian representative in South America, Pamela Valdivia. She presented the start-up culture in Latin America, with a focus on Chile.
The digital transformation and the "4th Industrial Revolution" are major challenges for all companies, which is why interest in working with start-us has risen sharply. In Latin America, 155 companies are already working with over 2,000 start-ups. Through their own Start-up Accellerator programmes, they can develop innovations more cheaply and quickly. Compared to other countries in Latin America, Chile scores above average in all categories essential for a fertile start-up ecosystem. Chile has a very well-developed infrastructure, many academically educated workers and a large customer market. Moreover, start-ups are strongly supported by the government.
After the comprehensive introduction to Chile's start-up culture, Andres Mitnik presented his start-up Strong by Form. The start-up has developed a sustainable lightweight construction technique for wood with which it wants to revolutionise the market. The material can replace cement or aluminium, making the construction of houses or cars more sustainable.
At the next International Founders Talk Vol.4 on 9 December, we are once again in Chile and it will be all about the start-up eco-system as well as the start-up Fracttal. Exciting speakers will also be there:
