Jens Gebele conducts research into data analytics and artificial intelligence at the TTZ Günzburg. This transfers scientific findings in the field of artificial intelligence to the regional economy.
Lecture on AI for the analysis of emotions
In his presentation "Beyond Deep Learning: Integrating Neuro-Symbolic AI for Enhanced Analysis of Facial Behavior of Emotions", he highlighted the challenges faced by AI systems in recognizing human emotions through facial expressions. "Current AI models such as deep learning have made great strides, but have reached their limits when it comes to capturing the complex and often subtle signals of human emotions," says Gebele.
To overcome these hurdles, he presented an innovative architecture for an adaptive AI-based system that combines traditional symbolic AI methods with modern deep learning techniques. This neuro-symbolic approach leverages the advantages of both technologies and aims to improve the accuracy and comprehensibility of AI when analyzing emotions.
Exchange and future collaboration
At the ISRE conference, Jens Gebele took the opportunity to exchange ideas with other researchers and develop new ideas for current and future projects. He considers the discussions on how AI and emotion psychology can work even more closely together to develop ethically sound and robust AI systems to be particularly valuable.
A look into the future
The findings from the ISRE conference will further advance AI research at TTZ Günzburg and feed into future studies. This research is not only important for science, but could also have practical applications in areas such as psychology, neuroscience and human-computer interaction.
